Telephone Intake Assistant

Catholic Charities provides a variety of assistance for Lake County families in need of temporary emergency support for rent, utilities, shelter, transportation, medication or food. The Intake Assistant Volunteer will support the daily phone center by fielding calls from clients requesting and qualifying for specific services. The Intake Assistant will gather necessary information required to document the emergency and the specific needs of the client. Next they will advise potential clients about services that may be available for them. Once initial information is gathered, the Intake Assistant will then set up an appointment with a caseworker for further assessment in providing aid for a client.

• 1 -2 time slots, weekly, mornings or afternoons
• Customer service experience, good communication and listening skills are extremely important.
• Ability to handle some high stress calls.
• Provides direct client service and is very rewarding.
• Materials and training provided by department.
