Do you have 2 hours a week to help people in our community learn what they need to feel successful and supported in such areas as completing job applications, reading to their children, navigating computers and technology, studying for the GED, budgeting, learning how to write, and other areas of critical importance to build long-term life skills.
San Mateo County READS is seeking VOLUNTEER TUTORS to work one-on-one, in small groups, or in conversation clubs with adult learners. Location: East Palo Alto library.
Our tutors:
- Help people achieve their educational, career, and personal life goals
- Meet with their student 2 or 3 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months
- Change lives and develop relationships
- Share their love of reading, writing, and other life skills
- Are patient, flexible, thoughtful and have a good sense of humor
- And most importantly, they feel great about what they do!
As a volunteer tutor you will receive FREE TRAINING and ON-GOING SUPPORT. No previous experience is needed. The volunteer must be 18 or older. Positions are available at the East Palo Alto Library.
We are taking applicants now for an April 20th orientation from 5:30pm-8pm that will allow you to be matched with a waiting learner by May! Please help us--there are so many people in our community actively looking for ways to improve their lives and the lives of their families and larger communities. Help us support them.
Sign up for a new and rewarding experience!
