Befriender: Help refugees adapt to a new life in America. Visit a refugee/family on a weekly basis. Focus is on teaching refugee how to live in America (i.e. shopping, use the post office, go to the library, bus transportation, ATM machine, etc.) as well as instructing them in American culture. Minimum length of commitment: 3 months

World Relief began offering services in Stanislaus County in 1996. We are a Christ-centered organization that partners with local churches and works with hundreds of individuals as well as community groups to offer a comprehensive range of services to refugees and immigrants living in Stanislaus County.
The goal is to empower the local Church to serve the most vulnerable and to see refugees, immigrants and members of their communities become fully-functioning, integrated participants in society. Each year in partnership with the Church, World Relief Modesto helps more than 300 clients.
