Back to School

As the beginning of the school year approaches, many families in the Bronx find themselves in a trying position - they need to provide their children with the supplies to succeed in school, but the prohibitive costs of living in NYC prevents them from doing so.

Part of the Solution (POTS), a multi-service social agency dedicated to nourishing the basic needs and hungers of all who come to our door, will be collecting school supplies to distribute to families in need.

Any contribution to our school supplies drive is greatly appreciated. We need: backpacks, pencil boxes, rulers, scissors, notebooks, binders, markers, erasers or crayons.

Our goal is to distribute school supplies to 300 children in low-income families in the Bronx.

For more information, or to help, please contact Kimberly Roginski at 718-220-4892, Ext. 12 or email serve@potsbronx.org.

Mission Statement

The mission of Part of the Solution (POTS) is to be a loving community in the Bronx that nourishes the basic needs and hungers of all who come to our door. Founded in 1982 as a soup kitchen, POTS has expanded its mission from feeding its neighbors to nourishing the myriad of needs of the community in a holistic way.

Description

Helping low-income families and individuals since 1982, POTS has grown to become a leading
provider of emergency food, social services and legal representation in the Bronx. Services span
a wide spectrum of human needs and are designed to help people move from crisis to stability,
and eventually self-sufficiency. Currently, services include a Community Dining Room, open
seven days a week; a Food Pantry; Nutrition Education, Clothing Room, Shower, and Mail
Facilities; Barbershop; Case Management to help people address barriers to stability; a Legal
Clinic specializing in eviction prevention and improper denial of benefits; and the POTS Family
Club, to provide intensive case management, education, social, and nutrition support to a select
group of families. POTS also holds a variety of seasonal distributions for items such as back-toschool
supplies, Thanksgiving turkeys and holiday gifts and is host to a Medical and Dental Clinic.
