Opportunity also available on Tuesday Thursday.
Homework 'n' Hoops Mentor - Support academic skill development and personal growth by mentoring a youth (2nd-6th grade) in the Homework n' Hoops after-school program!

Each week you will engage one-on-one with a youth to do homework and enrichment activities. Afterward, play in the gym or game room with other mentor/youth pairs. Training is provided by PPL and professional staff are available on-site for support at all times. Background check is required and attending the Youth Programs Volunteer Information Session is strongly recommended.

COMMITMENT:
2 hours per week from Oct - May
Monday or Wednesday 4:30-6:30 pm
Tuesday or Thursday 6:30-8:30 pm

Skills

  • Communication: Experience interacting with children in a positive environment.
  • Listening: At Homework 'n' Hoops we encourage our mentors to take a partnership approach to leading their mentee. A big part of this is the ability to listen
  • Patience: This skill is critical to learning how to read and do math. So it is critical when teaching others how to read and do math. While mentoring a child it is especially important to have patience.
