Please be aware, the main form of contact will be through email, so if you do become involved, please have an active email that you check regularly. Event announcements and reminders will be sent out through email and you will be on a mailing list.

For immediate application, please visit our website (http://www.arwob.org/info/display?PageID=6411) and fill out a VOLUNTEER APPLICATION directly. Inquiries made on VolunteerMatch may be missed.

Event volunteers assist our Event Coordinator in setting up and breaking down for adoption events, caring for, cleaning up after, & handling our dogs and cats, and speaking with adopters about the animals on site. Speaking with adopters additionally requires that you become familiar with our adoption process, fees, and rescue operation & process from Mexico to the United States. *You may need to attend a few event to get a handle on things, but for the most part it's always best to shadow another more experienced volunteer in the beginning. Do not be afraid to ask questions!*

We have events all around San Diego, but primarily travel to the Petcos and Petsmarts in Clairemont. Set up usually includes assembling kennels/corrals/crates, carrying tables, banners, bags and all other supplies needed. We try to have at least 1 event per month for 2-3 hours.

At the end of the event, volunteers are needed to stay and help clean up. Breaking down usually doesn't take too long. We sometimes have only two volunteers and we finish in as little as 30 minutes. But, we are really looking for more people to help out since events can be hectic at times.

Event volunteers should preferably be comfortable with handling both dogs and cats, however it is not required. If you have always wanted to be around dogs and cats and never had the opportunity, you are more than welcome to join us and learn.

Event volunteers earn a shirt upon the attendance of their 3rd event. They also have the opportunity to become an 'Event Adoption Counselor' after volunteering at five events.

Mission Statement

Animal Rescuers Without Borders, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which consists of a group of dedicated people who donate their time, resources, skills and energy toward the battle against the overpopulation of homeless pets and improving the lives of companion animals through rescue, fostering programs, adoption, pet care, educational programs and of course spaying and neutering.

Description

The A.R.W.O.B. group is based in San Diego, CA and operates mostly in Mexico as well as Southern California and will come to the aid of any animal in need which crosses our path. Our belief is to do what we can in order to "Make a difference in their lives." From experience we have observed and feel the companion animals of Mexico are in the greatest need and accordingly we focus much of our efforts in Baja, Mexico. However, we certainly extend our help to our north of the border critters by accepting relinquished family pets, exiting both dogs and cats from the shelters of San Diego and of course by working in conjunction with other animal rescue groups in the community.

The A.R.W.O.B. family believes in opening our arms and homes to the homeless, abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats of both Mexico and Southern California in order to offer whenever possible a safe house to these animals irrespective of age, sex, breed or size. Our rescued and fostered animals go through a period of quarantine which will last 3 weeks before they are placed into the adoption list in order to help us eliminate any transfer of disease between our rescued animals. Our rescues all receive veterinary care both south and north of the border, socialization and training in the hopes that they will be placed in a "forever" home. We are also focused on educating foster parents, adopters, school children and others especially in Baja, Mexico on the care, feeding and prevention of unwanted litters of both dogs and cats both pure or mix breeds.
