The Voter Education & Engagement Intern will assist with nonpartisan voter outreach strategies, coordinating voter education activities leading up to the November 2016 general election. Specific duties may include crafting a voter engagement plan, attending community coalition meetings, creating issue updates, building a special event for National Voter Registration Day (Sept 27) and coordinating advocacy and outreach efforts. The primary focus of the project is in the area of self-advocacy, and will involve supporting program participants in knowing their voting rights and responsibilities.
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per week. August - November 2016. Flexible schedule.
Qualifications for Volunteer: The ideal Intern will be outgoing and comfortable speaking with people from diverse backgrounds. Some knowledge of the American voting process is preferred but not required as training will be provided. The Intern should be at least 18 years old and not associated with any political campaign.
