This is a technical clinic position which assumes responsibility for the exercise physiology and well being of patients receiving services provided by I.EM.PHIT. This includes, but is not limited to, direct patient and parent interviews for physical activity and lifestyle health surveys, physiological testing and data collection for: height, weight, body composition, flexibility, handgrip, arm/leg strength/power Wingate tests, graded exercise lung function, and V02/VC02/EKG tests using a MedGraphics Ultima Metabolic Cart.
Responsibilities and skills include:
- Interview and data collection
- Motivation and positive lifestyle adherence
- Physical activity and bioenergetic assessment/reports
- Heart rate and accelerometer equipment implementation
- Extensive computer skills for scheduling, data entry/reports, patient and family interventions, e-mail, fitness screening and assessments
- Exercise prescriptions with flexibility, cardio, aerobic, fat-burning, muscle resistance, weight lifting, plyometrics and Type IIb high intensity power workouts
- Caloric expenditure and count calculations
- Power data entry, analyses, report generation, calculation and preparation of disease specific exercise prescriptions and outcomes progress reports
- Provide exercise/nutrition lifestyle health education as appropriate to participate in related patient care activities.

Description
The Institute for Exercise Medicine and Prevention is a one of a kind, non-profit program that is located in St. Paul, MN. IEMPHIT complements the treatment of chronic disease entities by improving health, fitness and energy through exercise and proper nutrition. Subsequently, it helps by reversing the trend toward increased morbidity and mortality.
I.EM.PHIT improves the health of children and adults by enhancing the treatment of diseases, including:
- Asthma & other pulmonary disease
- Autism spectrum
- Cardiac disease
- Chronic fatigue & Chronic pain
- Diabetes & pre-diabetes
- Down's Syndrome & metabolic disease
- Mental health conditions such as depression, low self-esteem, eating disorders, anxiety, anger management, ADD and ADHD
- Oncology & related illnesses
- Orthopedic follow-up
- Overweight & Obesity
The I.EM.PHIT Protocol is an individualized program that emphasizes balanced treatment and personal discipline. The patient experience starts with a thorough intake assessment. A personalized fitness training program is developed with on-going feedback and support. Nutritional counciling and take-home strategies encourage life-changing habits to make them routine.
Parents of I.EM.PHIT kids are encouraged to participate in the program with tools developed especially for families.
