Rebuilding Alliance Fair Trade Intern

Rebuilding Alliance Fair Trade Store is opening a beautiful new shop and recruiting a team of fair trade interns to help in selling Palestinian Fair Trade organic olive oil and spices. You will represent the Rebuilding Alliance mission to the public. You will learn and tell the story of Palestinian gourmet olive oil, delicious za’atar, couscous and answer customer’s questions. You will process sales, ingoing and outgoing shipments. You will be a part of a team that develops and put into practice new sales strategies to boost the revenue. Above all, you must love interacting with people and be committed to fair trade.

Responsibilities:

- explain fair trade and the mission of the Rebuilding Alliance to customers

- hold tastings when customers come

- accept incoming shipments, create tags and label items

- track quantities of items on sale floor

- keep the place tidy and wash dishes

- fill on-line orders, pull stock, complete sales, pack and ship

- take part in brainstorming and developing sales proposals

- contact potential customers including places of worship

- help in developing and updating Rebuilding Alliance Fair Trade Store website

Requirements:

· Commit 20 hours per week including some Saturdays

· Have a personable and interactive style

· Love olive oil and Mediterranean food products

· Have demonstrated commitment to fair trade principles

· Be adept at problem solving, friendly and firm

· Be willing and able to lift up to 12lbs, perform routine cleaning and maintenance, run errands

· Demonstrate a track record of attention to detail

A plus: retail sales experience, a car, an entrepreneurial spirit; good writing skills; web design
