Reading mentors volunteer with elementary age students October through May. Volunteers practice reading with students one day a week for one hour at schools or other READ centers located throughout Saginaw County. Opportunites are available for individuals to partner with another person or business associate so volunteers can share the experience and determine monthly schedules with their partner.

Mission Statement

The READ Association of Saginaw County is a local 501(c)(3) non profit organization whose mission is to help students improve their reading skills and discover the joy of reading. Primary goals are to motivate children to want to read, develop self confidence and self esteem and encourage children to read for a lifetime. The literacy program primarily focuses on recuriting volunteer mentors working one-on-one with students serving as postive role models helping children learn to read and practice their reading skills.
