Ongoing volunteer opportunities at the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy! a) Heritage Rose Garden: Volunteers help with the maintenance of more than 3,600 roses in the Heritage Rose Garden (West Taylor St. between Hwy 87 & Coleman Ave.). Projects include rose pruning, fertilizing, propagating, weeding, mulching, and rose deadheading. Ongoing volunteer workdays at the Heritage Rose Garden are every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30am. Groups are welcome. b) Help preserve a portion of the old Santa Clara Valley when orchards stretched across the valley floor. We are looking for volunteers to help maintain the Historic Orchard in the garden area of the Guadalupe River Park. Workdays are the first Saturday of the month from 8:30-11:30am. c) Visitor & Education Center (438 Coleman Ave.): Volunteers needed to help with the maintenance of a native landscape. Weekday schedules available. d) Visitor & Eduacation Center: Volunteers can help to staff the front reception desk and help with light office work. Volunteers must be 18 . Description
The Guadalupe River Park Conservancy provides community leadership for the development and active use of the Guadalupe River Park & Gardens through education, advocacy and stewardship. Past efforts by the Conservancy contributed to collaboration among government agencies and community interest groups seeking to solve problems related to the Guadalupe River flood control project. The Conservancy is continually involved in completing the master plans for both the park and gardens, creating educational programs, promoting awareness of the Park & Gardens, and developing membership and volunteer opportunities to increase public support and involvement.
