Thank you for your interest in becoming a CASA or Guardian ad Litem Volunteer. "You start out intending to change a child's life and, as a CASA, find you've also changed your own."
The volunteer becomes a friend to the child, explaining what is happening, addressing the child's fears, anger, and confusion.
Volunteers enjoy a tremendous sense of fulfillment knowing that they are making a positive, lasting difference in the life of a child.

Mission Statement
MISSION STATEMENT
CASA of Williamson County, Texas provides trained, court-appointed volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused or neglected children on their journey to a safe, permanent home.
Description
CASA of Williamson County began in 2008 with a collaborative initiative led by the Williamson County judges, community leaders and Texas CASA Association. An amazing, hands-on Board of Directors has been instrumental in the establishment of the program, and we are now heading into our third year.
Court Appointed Special Advocates is a national volunteer movement that began more than 30 years ago, when Judge David Soukup in Seattle decided he needed to know more about the children whose lives were in his hands. He asked commuinty volunteers to act as a "voice in court" for abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers proveded him with the detailed information he needed to protect thd children's best interests and ensure that they were placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
There are approximately 587 children in the legal responsibility of the Department of Family and Protective Services in Williamson County. Our goal is to provide a CASA (Court Appointed Speacial Advocate) to every child that needs one, and we are currently serving 58.
In the coming year, we are looking to double that number and serve over 100 children. We can only do that with the support of volunteers! Find out more about how you can become a CASA volunteer at www.becomeacasa.org.
