If you have a passion for social justice and the skills to support a growing nonprofit’s development then we’d like you to join our Board of Directors! The Sexual Assault Resource Center, also known as SARC, is a nonprofit corporation based in Beaverton, Oregon that serves Washington and Multnomah Counties. Our mission is to promote social justice by eliminating sexual violence in our community through support, advocacy and education. SARC provides immediate response and support to survivors of sexual assault and works to empower them to heal and regain control of their lives. The Board of Directors is seeking an experienced individual to join our Leadership team.

Board member responsibilities include setting agency policy, setting the short and long-term goals of the agency, managing the Executive Director, and fiscal oversight including the approval of the annual budget. SARC has experienced a great deal of growth in the past 5 years and relies on a committed, working board to ensure sustainability in funding, community engagement and program operations.

A successful candidate may:

• have experience leading or participating in strategic planning,demonstrate effective leadership skills,
• represent or have experience working with diverse populations in our community
• have prior board or volunteer service,
• use a collaborative problem-solving approach, and
• have a basic understanding of the causes and effects of sexual assault.

All members must be able to attend once or twice monthly meetings as well as devote time outside meetings to other board activities. Other experience such as accounting, business, political, legal, medical, development and/or finance is also helpful.
