ORGANIZATION: National MS Society - Gateway Area Chapter

Position Summary: Provide callers with a helpful attitude, ensuring that the National MS Society cares about their needs and concerns. Ensure that callers are transferred to the proper person who can answer their questions. Thank fundraisers who call or visit the office for their fundraising efforts. Be helpful and friendly when people living with MS inquire about the chapter or a program.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Answer phone and transfer calls to proper person
  • Meet, greet and assist visitors
  • Interact with staff, other volunteers, visitors, interns, event participants and calls regarding programs
  • Learn other duties associated with the front desk: memorial/tribute letters, cash/check log entry, general knowledge of events and programs, updating employee listing and roster, etc.
  • Assist in other areas of the Finance/Admin department and/or other departments of the chapter, duties may consist of folding and putting letters in envelopes, putting labels on envelopes, filing, etc.

Description

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and nationwide network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Seeking volunteers to the MS cause is the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers four key fund-raising activities:

  • Bike MS
  • Walk MS

The Society also engages volunteers to help influence lawmakers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people living with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as:

  • Marketing/Communications
  • Public relations
  • Corporate and donor development
  • Medical, legal, administrative.
