The Public Health Reserve Corps (PHRC) is seeking Chaplain / Spiritual Care Worker volunteers to assist Public Health - Seattle & King County during an emergency in King County.

Chaplain/Spiritual Care Worker volunteers will primarily assist individuals and families during an emergency by providing services in the community such as:

  • Triage and brief assessment
  • Psychological first aid
  • Spiritual support
  • Psycho-educational support
  • Information and referral


  • Depending on the severity of the emergency or disaster, secondary duties may be assigned, including general labor and support duties.

    Chaplain/Spiritual Care Worker volunteers will participate in approximately 24 hours per year in orientation, training, and drills.

    Continuing education credits will be offered whenever possible during these hours.

    We also offer drill and exercise opportunities.

    Mission Statement

    The mission of the PHRC is to enhance Public Health's ability to respond to public health emergencies or disasters to limit injury, illness, suffering and death.

    Description

    The Public Health Reserve Corps is the largest Medical Reserve Corps in Washington State. We are poised to help our community in a variety of settings during both medical emergencies and Disasters. When every minute counts the PHRC will be there to:

    • Set up, and run a temporary field hospital, emergency shelter, or medication center
    • Dispensing medications
    • Administering vaccinations
    • Providing information and support to the community
    • Conducting health screening

    But when we are not in a medical emrgency or disaster, our volunteers work in teh at risk community to provide medical care, screening and referrals.
