The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society is looking for new board members to join our all-volunteer 501c3 organization.
Our mission is to preserve, document and classify the physical history of the Lake Minnetonka Area. To provide a means by which everyone can share in the history of the lake area. To stimulate interest in the cultural heritage of the area.
We run a museum downtown Excelsior and house our Archives in the Old School Building nearby. Our annual fundraiser is the Booseum and Ghost Trolley, held in partnership with the Minnesota Streetcar Museum each Fall.
Board members are expected to attend month meetings, and serve on one board committee. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Old School Building in Excelsior.

Description
Founded in 1972, the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that collects, preserves and shares the history of the south Lake Minnetonka area including Big Island, parts of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Shorewood, and Tonka Bay, Minnesota.
The Society’s Archives and Museum are free and open to the public and hold a large collection of Lake Minnetonka artifacts, photographs and documents.
A number of books about Lake Minnetonka history have been published by the Society and are available for purchase from the Society online and in local bookstores.
The Society also presents lectures and programs on topics of local historical interest throughout the year.
