Sit with our patients and provide much appreciated companionship

As a volunteer you may read, take walks, write letters, bring music, sing a song or play a musical instrument.

Volunteers can assist with shopping or household maintenance, or allow family caregivers the opportunity to take care of necessary errands and get some time away from the house.

Family members also appreciate a visit from a compassionate friend who understands what they are going through.

Visits may occur at a patient's home, a skilled nursing facility or a long-term care facility.

Assurance Hospice considers our Volunteers to be the heart of hospice. At Assurance Hospice you can choose to work directly with patients and their families, or offer your time and talents in other important ways.

Whatever you choose, our goal is to make your gift of time with Assurance Hospice as fulfilling and satisfying as possible.

We offer Volunteer Training and supportive services to all volunteers. No one is ever asked to do anything beyond their emotional or physical capabilities.

We encourage those who have experienced a recent loss of a loved one to wait a minimum of one year before serving as a direct care volunteer.
