Furniture Bank of Central Ohio

How the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio will keep our volunteers safe: Masks are required for all staff and volunteers regardless of vaccination status. Masks can be provided to volunteers who do not bring their own.

Volunteers work together to assemble kitchen tables, coffee tables, end tables, and beds. Depending on need, we may also ask volunteers to help paint, sand, rout, cut or assemble pre-cut parts or assist in our efforts to reclaim wood to use again. No woodworking or tool experience needed for groups. We provide the instructions, tools, and safety equipment. The woodshop can be scheduled for small volunteer groups on select weekdays.

Individual volunteers are needed especially Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Some woodworking and/or tool experience preferred, but not needed for individual volunteers. Wednesdays are dedicated to building dressers in an assembly setting with other experienced volunteers. Thursday mornings are dedicated to cutting pieces on our table saws for everything else we build.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is to provide a free furniture for individuals and families struggling with poverty and other severe life challenges - "Turning Empty Houses Into Homes." The organization was originally "Material Assistance Providers" from 1998-2006, and "MAP Furniture Bank" from 2006-2009.

Description
