Support Early Childhood Education as a Receptionist at the Viva Center

Provide support to Children's Home Aid Viva Program clients and staff by serving as a volunteer receptionist. Volunteers are needed to answer telephone calls and greet visitors at the front desk. Location is open from 9-5 on weekdays, and can use help with these tasks (and possibly others) every day! Bring a book or a laptop for slow times, and know you are helping families get the support they need for their child's education just by directing a few phone calls! Children's Home Aid is a leading Child Family Service agency in Illinois. Each year it protects, educates and counsels nearly 40,000 children, youth and families to improve their lives. Viva Home Based Program offers educational services for children and families in the city of Chicago. Home educators provide weekly home visits and aim to meet the child’s individual interests and needs. Family Support Specialists provide support and assist parents in meeting the needs of their children pertaining to education and child development. Families served by Viva have been affected by major changes and challenges in their lives. Many have immigrated into the United States and are overwhelmed by multiple obstacles and lack support systems. Viva staff collaborates with other social service agencies, creating a network of services for families which enables them to use their strengths to overcome obstacles. The Head Start program offered through the Home Based Program provides educational, health, disability, mental health, nutrition and social services to children from 3-5 years of age. Educational services are designed to meet the child’s individual interests. Learning experiences are planned to foster total growth and developmental skills.
