A Philly Spring Cleanup Event!

Philly Spring Cleanup is almost here! On April 10th, volunteer with Nicetown CDC to clean and beautify Germantown Avenue as a part of Philadelphia's citywide "Keep Up the Sweep Up" mass volunteer event. The Philly Spring Cleanup seeks to sustainably and permanently eliminate and prevent litter and illegal dumping throughout the city. Nicetown CDC's mission to improve the quality of life in Nicetown and the surrounding area through affordable housing, arts & culture, recreation, education & more is greatly dependent upon volunteer efforts to keep the commercial corridor clean, attractive, and safe. You can help out by becoming part of a volunteer team to carry out various tasks:
o Signing in and organizing volunteer groups
o Becoming a cleanup block team captain
o Cleaning (sweeping, removal of trash & debris)
o Placing trash/debris in appropriate pick up points.
o Block by block canvassing and distribution of resource/service information.
Volunteers should dress in casual and comfortable clothing. As trash removal is involved, volunteers should wear clothing that they will feel comfortable potentially getting soiled.
Directions: the area is accessible to the Wayne Junction station, (4400 Germantown Avenue) SEPTA Route 23 bus, which connects to the Broad Street subway. There is street parking available along the corridor, and adjacent to the NTCDC Community Center (4300 Germantown Avenue) Parking can also be set up at the Roosevelt Boulevard underpass.
