Hundreds of individuals volunteer for Comfort Zone Camp, the nation's largest non-profit bereavement camp for children. Donate your time and energy for one of our weekend camps. Many volunteers tell us their weekend at CZC is one of the most important things they have ever done!
Join us for one or several unique weekends in Sandwich MA where the kids can have traditional camp fun (camping in cabins, making s'mores, singing karaoke, laughing, playing and meeting other kids), while at the same time learning valuable grief coping skills.
Volunteer Roles:
- One of the most needed volunteers is the Big Buddy (18 yrs or older). Each weekend camp typically serves over 65 children and each child is carefully paired with a same gender volunteer Big Buddy. The Big Buddy/Little Buddy partnership is designed so that each child has an adult volunteer who serves as their mentor, friend, anchor and shadow for the entire camp weekend.
- Healing Circle Leaders (licensed counselors) to lead group grief sessions;
- Floaters to help everywhere as needed;
- Camp Nurses and more.
- Volunteer opportunities are also available for Office Helpers, Fundraising and Event Committee Members.
Start by filling out the on-line volunteer application on our website. Camp dates and locations are included in the application and our website's calendar. Attendance at one of our training orientation sessions is required before volunteers can be assigned a role and participate in one of our camp sessons.
Please note: Camp sessions are held in Sandwich. CZC's MA office is located in Winchester.

Mission Statement
Comfort Zone provides grieving children with a voice, a place and a community in which to heal, grow and lead more fulfilling lives.
Description
Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit 501(c)3 bereavement organization that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. Our programs are free of charge and include confidence building activities and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Comfort Zone’s programs are offered to children ages 7-17, and their families for the family programs, plus we offer young adult programs for 18-25 year olds. Held year-round across the country, our primary locations are California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina and Virginia (HQ). We also partner with organizations to serve their local or specific communities through our Partnership and Community by Design Programs.
Our Vision
Comfort Zone envisions a world where grieving children are not forgotten or left to grieve alone, and are supported by a wide community that understands and appreciates them.CAUSE AREAS
