Who is ERfC?

ERfC is a non-profit organization located in Enfield, CT. We provide positive out-of-school time academic, enrichment, and recreational activities for children in grades K-8 in partnership with the Enfield Public Schools. ERfC operates five School-Age Centers for primary, intermediate and middle school students. All School-Age Centers are licensed through the office of the CT Early Childhood Education.

Our daily schedule begins with assisting children with homework. Once homework is completed, children move to a variety of activities, including science, language arts, arts & crafts, computer lab, and a variety of enrichment activities.

ERfC also administers Afterschool Adventures, short-term activities for children which include KidZ Sports, KidZ Write and more; and Vacation Destination, open when school is closed. Summer programs include Summer Escape Camp, a full day camp for students entering grade 1 and 8 in the fall; and Summer Lunch Bunch, a free USDA lunch program with literacy activities for kids and families. The ERfC Community Outreach division also includes events and dinners in collaborations with school parent organizations, including the monthly Tonight in Thompsonville dinners.

What do our volunteers do?

ERfC volunteer program assistants work with our Team Leaders within small groups of children. Volunteers help students learn, develop new skills, and serve as positive role models. Volunteer positions include homework help, sports and games, enrichment activities (art, board games, dance, music, crafts, etc.), cooking and more. Volunteers are also encouraged to add their special hobby or skill to our Club Hour every day. Do you like to travel, knit, cook, dance, sign, know sign language? All these activities are great activities for kids to learn.

Why volunteer with us?

Volunteering promotes personal health and growth and allows you to share a skill; you give back to your community; and it provides you with professional work experience. ERfC will design the perfect opportunity for you--with you. Volunteer hours are flexible. ERfC helps to match your passion with the needs of the children and families we serve.
