Tutor Somali Refugee youth with the Somali Community Services Coalition (SCSC)! Help students catch up and reach their potential by tutoring them in a supportive environment and providing extra support during the school day. You can volunteer in any of the five schools in the Tukwila School District.

Why:

There are more than 25,000 Somalis in South King County. Somali refugee youth comprise a significant portion of students in the Tukwila School District and many of these students came to the United States after living for years in refugee camps, where they did not have access to educational opportunities. As a result, they often struggle in school. For example, only 13 percent of the Somali students in the Tukwila School District passed the math section of the WASL last year.

You CAN Help. Tutor a child during the school day and make a difference.
