Seeking Teachers and Teaching Assistants:

We are looking for volunteers from different design disciplines who are interested in being teachers or TA's for Inneract Project middle school students this Fall 2010. Two teachers will work together to establish a curriculum and teach together (See schedules below). Session teachers are also assisted by teaching assistants. The class objective is to engage students through a design process that challenges them to think creatively and critically in a fun and interactive environment. We are actively seeking teachers who have great ideas and a passion for design and giving back to the community. We prefer designers with some teaching experience, but if you are great with middle school students, that's a plus. Prior to your class session, we will provide support through an in-depth lesson plan/curriculum and teacher training.

Skills

  • TEACHERS: Session teachers: (Fall - 6 Saturdays, 9am - 2pm) - In-depth focus on a particular design challenge, based on a class theme. - Must be able to commit to a 5 month time frame that includes working with your partner, preparation meetings and the 6 Saturday classes.
  • TEACHING ASSISTANTS: Teaching assistants will serve as support for the teachers. They must be able to commit to 3 consecutive classes. They will assist students during class time and help the teachers with tasks such as planning and running brief games/exercises, photo documenting classes and scanning and uploading student work.
