Want to help refugees start their new lives in America while gaining valuable case management experience? Apply by 5 May for the Refugee Resettlement Internship. Refugee Resettlement Interns will be responsible for assisting case managers to effectively and orderly resettle newly arrived refugees, helping case managers maintain smooth and systematic operations within the Resettlement Department. This internship will provide the practical skills and experience for someone interested in entering the social service and/or non-profit sector. The ideal candidate is a dedicated self-starter who is passionate about serving San Diego’s diverse refugee population.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Prepare applications for social service appointments
* Call clients to follow up on appointments
* Assist case managers in giving cultural orientations
* Conduct quality control for case files
* Assist clients at social service appointments
* Help with the preparation of apartments for newly arriving families
REQUIREMENTS:
COMMITMENT:
The position requires a minimum 4 month commitment for 10-15 hours per week.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive Apps
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Excellent interpersonal communication
- Culturally sensitive
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proactive and independent worker
