Does the idea of helping cats and the community excite you? If so, Operation Catnip may have the volunteer position for you! It's estimated that there are 70 million stray and feral community cats in the United States. Sadly, this means the number of cats far exceeds the number of homes available for them. Targeted Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs are vital to reducing the number of homeless cats. Through Operation Catnip's TNR efforts, we have seen Alachua County shelter admissions decrease, which has reduced the number of cats killed unnecessarily. We operate monthly spay-neuter and vaccination clinics at University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine. At these clinics, we spay and neuter 150+ cats in one day! We are looking for compassionate volunteers to help us prepare for our clinic days through humane trap maintenance, cat caregiver support, and clerical duties.
