Description

Instructs a group cycling class at the Downtown YMCA. Acts as a liaison and advocate for YMCATotal Health/Activate America. Understands the "Health Seeker" target market and provides motivational coaching to members participating in ongoing Total Health/Activate America programs.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Plans for and instructs a group cycling class. Observes and discusses individual progress with participants.
  2. Develops positive relationships with participants and facilitates relationships among participants and members. Provides motivational support and guidance.
  3. Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors.
  4. Encourages member and parent involvement and identifies potential fellow volunteers.
  5. May lead one or more ongoing cycling classes.

Skills

  • QUALIFICATIONS 1. Qualified candidates should have proven ability in group cycling class instruction. 2. Current state approved first aid certification. 3. Current state approved CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification. 4. YMCA certifications such as YMCA Healthy Lifestyles Principles, Foundations of YMCA Group Exercise, YMCA Strength Training (or external professional certifications such as AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, etc) preferred but not required.
