Traffic Control Volunteer-
A local elementary school needs volunteers to help direct cars to the appropriate area to pick up and drop off students.

No special training is required, volunteer can be instructed by school personnel.
Morning shift-
One volunteer would be at school for morning drop off time (8:30-9:00am), Monday through Friday, to assist with directing traffic to the correct drop off spot.
Greeting children and giving positive words of encouragement to begin the day. Another volunteer would help direct cars to turn the correct way out of the driveway, asking drivers to obey the 'right turn only' sign. May involve the use of a walkie talkie to communicate with staff. Volunteer is not expected to handle any type of student discipline problem.


Afternoon shift- Monday through Friday. Hours: 3:25- 3:45 PM. One volunteer would be stationed in the courtyard to help children load on the bus in a safe manner. A volunteer would also be at the outlet of the school driveway to direct traffic flow to turn right, according to the sign. May involve the use of a walkie talkie to communicate with staff. Volunteer is not expected to handle any type of student discipline problem.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Snohomish County matches skills/training and preferences of persons 55+ to available volunteer opportunities and promotes their voluntary service as a valuable community resource.

Description

RSVP matches personal interests, skills and lifelong experiences with non-profit public organizations at over 116 different partner agencies, including non-profits, throughout the county. Benefits of being an RSVP volunteer are: ~excess insurance coverage including Liability, Auto, and Accident. ~partial reimbursement for transporatation costs to and from volunteer stations, subject to certain regulations and limits. ~ongoing recognition and Annual Recognition Event to RSVP volunteers. The only agency tracking and reporting the volunteer activities of persons age 55 and older through the National Senior Corps, RSVP promotes retired and senior persons as viable members of the community, able to share their skills, time and experience through volunteer service.
