Treasurer Needed on Board - Houston Dog Parks
Organization |
Description
Must love dogs!
The Houston Dog Park Association (HDPA) is seeking candidates for the Treasurer position on our Board of Directors. This is a voting position.
HDPA is a 501c3 NFP consisting of volunteers who are passionate about dog parks and responsible dog ownership. HDPA was originally formed 12 years ago as a catalyst to get the first dog park in Houston. Now that Houstonians have embraced the concept of dog parks and those dog parks have been recognized and awarded as the best dog parks in the country (with more to come), HDPA continues to serve as an advisor in dog park planning and development. HDPA also acts as a community liaison and advocate for existing dog parks. We support the park users, help resolve issues and concerns, and maintain a strong partnership with city and county parks department officials in order to accomplish our goals. HDPA also educates the community about dog park rules, etiquette and responsible pet ownership and animal welfare issues. Learn more about HDPA's current Programs.
HDPA's MISSION:
HDPA is dedicated to educating all people as to the responsibilities and benefits of pet ownership and supporting the development of off-leash dog parks as environmentally compatible areas for enjoyment and recreation.
We expect all new Board hopefuls to begin 'apprenticeship' as an active volunteer in order to learn about HDPA before stepping up to the Board.
Our yearly income and expenses are less than $6,000.
Candidates must be able to attend a mandatory meeting of the Board every other month at 7 pm on the 4th Wednesday. Location is 290 at 43rd. Optional quarterly General Membership meetings are also held 4 times per year.
HDPA's Board is a fun and hands on team. We hold or exhibit at about 5 to 8 events per year to educate, advocate, and raise funds and awareness about dog parks and dog welfare. We ask our Board to try to attend some of these events as their time permits and be involved as volunteers when they can in order to participate in the organization.
Please submit your resume and experience for consideration.
