- Scholarship support for college or other post-secondary education
- Programs for parents of Scholars
I. Position Description
The primary purpose and function of the Executive Director of Communications is to:
- Create substantial local and national awareness of Dollars for Scholars, Inc.
- Create awareness that will strengthen financial resources to sustain rapid growth
- Support marketing and fundraising efforts
- Create awareness that helps to drive increases participation in Dollars for Scholars programs local and nation wide
Responsibilities
- Create, launch and implement a comprehensive, targeted, and sustainable public relations program that supports Dollars for Scholars
- Develop and execute a major media outreach plan
- Create and execute large scale, web-based campaigns to expand awareness
- Create and execute an internal and external communications strategy
- Create marketing materials such as newsletters, brochures, etc.
- Write and place press releases
- Perform basic graphic design duties as needed
- Network relationships with other news agencies, freelance writers and other media talent
General:
- Provide input to the leadership team and be a role model of the values and leadership responsibilities of KSI.
- Work with leadership in determining and implementing program outcomes, targets, milestones, and action steps, and in documenting progress toward achieving meaningful results on an annual basis.
- Exhibit high integrity and stewardship of the organization's resources.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with staff and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in marketing, communications, public relations or equivalent
- Ability to organize materials and to schedule time efficiently.
- Non-profit work experience preferred
- Experience in working in communications for a fast-paced organization
- Work Hours: 5 hours a week required. (virtual-volunteer)
- Individual must have their own reliable transportation
