Do you have a comforting presence and a smiling face? If so, you would probably enjoy volunteering in our Surgery Waiting Area of the hospital. Primary duties include interacting with the hospital staff and patient's families by keeping families updated on the status of their loved one. In this adult volunteer position you will be checking visitors and families in and assigning beepers, updating and transferring families to conference rooms as information becomes available from the surgical staff, and directing visitors to locations throughout the hospital once the patient has been transferred to their room. Much walking is required for this position, as well as the ability to work at a medium - fast pace. We currently have openings throughout the week (available times vary).

At Memorial we want to make each patient experience exceptional, so the ability to interact with patients in a smiling and friendly manner is a must for this position.

We do request that you commit to a minimum of 6 months, or 50 hours of volunteer time at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Most volunteer shifts range from 3-4 hours weekly. Some of the additional requirements to volunteer at South Bend Memorial Hospital are up to date inoculation records, TB test, safety quiz, filling out the application and paperwork, and a background check.

To begin the volunteering process at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, you will need to attend two Orientation Sessions.
