Mentor to middle school adoptees

Thursday evening opportunity (6:30-8:30 PM) one night per month .
Adults (age 50+) support middle school youth who have recently experienced the adoption process. One evening per month, volunteers and youth participate in arts workshops while youths' parents attend support meeting. Arts projects will vary - photography, scrap booking, others to be determined by group based on skills and interests. Projects designed to be relaxing, fun, creative, and help boost self-expression and self-esteem.
Skills
- Artistic interest and/or skill, patience: Interest in working with younger teenagers, some of whom have faced challenging childhoods in the years preceding their adoption experience; no skills required in any of the workshop areas -- but an open spirit and a willingness to learn new things is important.
