Volunteer groups are needed throughout the year to improve the quantity and quality of community gardens in Atlanta. Activities include planting, produce collection, clean-up, plant rescues, plant shows and many other fun projects. This is a great project for groups of 8 - 25 volunteers ages 8 and up. The schedule is flexible, Monday - Saturday. Most shifts last three hours.

Our mission is lived out every day by engaging, educating and empowering both people in need and those who want to help. From volunteering your time to assisting people in finding economic security, the Food Bank covers a wide range of opportunities for people to learn and get involved.

Description

We utilize more than 1,700 volunteers a month, over 150 staff members, a large fleet of trucks and the largest food banking facility in the United States to procure and distribute food and grocery items received from hundreds of donors. Our donors include manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, brokers, restaurants, food drives, farmers and individuals. The product is easily accessed by our partner agencies. They place their orders online and arrange for pick up or delivery. Once the food arrives at the agency, it is provided to families and individuals in need.
