WHEAT Volunteers Make a REAL Difference

Join the team of WHEAT volunteers and make a difference through education, advocacy, action and empowerment toward an end to hunger, locally and globally. WHEAT has many varied opportunities to volunteer; come find out at our next New Volunteer Orientation, held each month!

FIRST STEP: Attend one of our New Volunteer Orientations to fill you in on all the volunteer opportunities along with a tour of our programs.

Orientations are 1 hour from 10:30 am to 11:30, held on Saturdays and during the week at the WHEAT office, located in the 7th St and Indian School area. A

Volunteer Opportunities include WHEAT's Clothes Silo, Fair Trade Store, Advocacy, Promotion & Marketing, Fair Trade Festivals, Community Events and more. See more at http://www.HungerHurts.org

Once we hear from you, we'll email you dates of upcoming Orientations to choose from.

A few things to note:

1. All volunteers must be age 14 or older, unless with a parent/guardian;
2. We do not provide volunteer opportunities for adults for court ordered service.

Mission Statement

The mission of WHEAT is to educate, advocate, engage and empower individuals to action in the fight against hunger and poverty.

Description

WHEAT: educates through workshops, civic speaking, leadership training and key note presentations; advocates through active participation within the legislative process, both locally and nationally; engages and empowers individuals caught in the poverty trap to self sustenance through their own participation in the anti-hunger campaign and by inspiring others to volunteer toward an end to hunger.

PROGRAMS

The Clothes Silo, a clothing boutique empowering disadvantaged women through the provision of free workwear.
The Fair Trade Store, fighting global poverty with fair and ethically traded gifts and goods.
WHEAT’s Management Training, providing skill building workshops and on-the-job training throughout the Phoenix area.
