Walk for Awareness, Education and Research

You are needed!

Volunteers are needed to:

Help set-up : decor and supplies, Company name, will set up and take down tents, tables, chairs

Greet and Register Families

Art tables - Crafts with children

Moonwalk supervision - ensure big kids aren't intermingled with little ones and time limits

Buddy Walk fence line - parts of the walk do not have fences and we are in need of volunteers to line up the walk to protect children from wondering into the bayou and to cheer them on!

VIP area - manage area where volunteers come to take a break and eat their free lunch

Family Buddy - Volunteer stays with family for two hours, after walk, to aide them with keeping a close eye on their child with down syndrome

Safety Kids Tent - volunteers aide with placing parents name and number on child, in case of a loss, and help with children who do become lost.

Bash walkers - Volunteers walk around, ensuring children aren't lost, aide families.

Help with clean-up and take down of decor and supplies

About Down syndrome and The Houston Buddy Walk:

Down syndrome is a chromosomal disorder that occurs in every 1 to 800 births, regardless of parental ethnicity. Every year, 49 states and 7 other countries walk to promote awareness, education and research of Down syndrome. The Houston Buddy walk is our largest fundraiser of needed funds used to educate parents, the community and operate several programs for parents and their children with Down syndrome. Another valuable and important asset to our community are our volunteers.

The Houston Buddy Walk is in need of 300 volunteers to help make our Houston Buddy Walk a success.

When you are most needed: November 14 th, 2009

Where you are most needed: Jones Plaza, Downtown: 601 Louisiana St., Houston, TX 77002

Times you are needed: 8:30am - 12:30pm or 12 am - 4:00pm
