Looking for a chance to volunteer?
Want to help spread some holiday cheer while educating about the issues of hunger and homelessness in our community?
Want to help out a local not for profit?
You can!
November 5th, the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society is holding its annual Home Sweet Gingerbread Home event at the Crossgates mall and we are looking for volunteers to help out with this fun-filled, family-friendly event! We have 30 teams from around the area build gingerbread houses to put on display at the mall for the two days. The houses are entered into a competition and the day is filled with fun and excitement for the whole family, as well as a chance to learn about the homeless in our community and region.
When: We are looking for volunteers from 8am-4:30pm on Saturday, November 5th
What: oversee the event (set up tables, watch over the houses, set things up, refill supplies if needed) and answer questions about the organization.

Description
Serving the New York Capital District since 1924, HATAS (Homeless and Travelers Aid Society) provides individualized and innovative services that are efficient and results driven. It's not enough to refer someone to treatment or get a roof over someone's head. We also provide the related support services so that each person we serve can live a full and productive life.
Services include: 24-Hour Homeless Emergency Services, Homeless Prevention Program, Pathways to Employment, 24-Hour Domestic Violence Response Team, Domestic Violence Case Management, Shelter Plus Care Mental Health Housing, Mental Health Hospital Discharge Community Transition Team, Mental Health Jail Diversion Program.
