Streetside Stories is a nonprofit arts education organization that uses storytelling, creative writing, theatrical improvisation and digital storytelling to help San Francisco public middle-school (11- and 12-year-old) students to develop their reading, writing and oral communication skills.
We are looking for a volunteer copy editor to edit our 2009/10 student anthology of short autobiographical stories.
Position duration: from January 2010-May 2010
Number of hours per week: 4-7 hours. Note that the editorial schedule is lightest in January, February and March, and heaviest in April and May.
Location: your home or office
Responsibilities Include:
* Formatting and editing stories that have been typed and edited by trained volunteer editors based on our in-house guidelines. Copy editor will take copy from first draft to final page proofs.
* Updating guidelines for volunteer editors.
* Working with the book designer to copyedit the cover.

Description
Streetside Stories is an arts education non-profit that uses storytelling, interactive theatre activities and digital storytelling to help a diverse group of students in Bay Area public schools develop their reading, writing and speaking skills.
We teach autobiographical writing and digital storytelling workshops during the school day and after school through curriculum that is standards based and, more importantly, fun! Each year we produce an anthology of student writing and digital storytelling that is available at SF Public Libraries and in local bookstores.
