We are a cat rescue group that works primarily with kittens. We need 1-2 volunteer(s) to help us at adoption events. These events are held on alternate Saturdays at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall Petsmart, and occasionally at other locations such as the Ledgewood Petco.

Foster homes bring their kittens to the event and they are displayed in cages. We talk to potential adoptors about caring for a cat and also determine whether the person seems suitable to adopt a pet.

You would be one of the people talking to these potential adoptors. We will train you!

Initially, you would observe us at work and then gradually join in as you feel comfortable.

This is a small, friendly and cohesive group of women. We consist of ages from early 20s to 60s.

You will be asked to fill out a Volunteer Application form. This form is standard for most rescue organizations.

• Outgoing personality / willing to learn: The ability to talk to potential adoptors about our cats and feel comfortable either answering their questions, or getting that information from your fellow volunteers. If you are not sure of something, you must know to ask rather than guess at an answer. Know what questions to ask them.
• Knowledge of cats: You should know general information about cats so you can answer questions and be able to handle the cats safely.
• Reliability: On event days, you need to be on location approximately from 10am to 4pm (sometimes a bit later). We set up our own tables and cages, and then take them down at day's end.
