National Organization for Renal Disease (NORD) has been asked to produce an California African American Health Event in greater Los Angeles on September 18, 2010, Saturday.
Our goal is to screen and educate 500 adult clients.
600 State Drive, Exposition Park
Los Angeles, CA 90037
The first event of this kind.
We need a variety of health care professionals along with regular volunteers-Doctors-Cardiologists, nephrologists, internists, transplant surgeons, nurses,endocrinologist, chiropractors, nutritionists, dieticians, nurses and medical assistants .
We also need related Vendors to supply health care educational materials and tools.
Health Care professionals must be currently licensed and or certified by the state of California and the Dept of Health Care Services.
NORD needs 15 licensed nurses and 5 doctors to volunteer to assist adults in this community.
NORD will be providing free health screenings and health education for: Kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, chiropractic health, fitness and information on obesity,nurtition organ and tissue donor information. Food, water and beverages to clients and volunteers.
We need your assistance with coordination and securing and recruiting of all volunteers and licensed health care professionals. Securing and procuring vendors to provide health care information, food products and services along with health care speakers on the subject of dialysis, kidney disease, high blood pressure, transplant surgery, organ and tissue donation, health eating and diet modifcation, health screenings and health education in the fields of kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity.
A great location is important and needs to be user friendly and accessible. We need a volunteer cordinator who can handle this as well. This is is the first step and then securing Vendors, foods and speakers for this historic event.
Event Location: California African American Museum, 600 State Drive, Exposition Park, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA 90037
Event Time: 10am till 3:00pm
We are asking all health care professionals, volunteers and vendor come and be there to set up at 8:30am.
Set up time for all vendors: 8:30 am. till 10:00am
Parking is $8.00 per car.
So please try to carpool or use alternatate transportation to the event site.
Our goal is to help communities in need of real health care services and information. All services are free to the community, focus: adult African American Community and residents.

A multicultural health agency that provides awareness, early warning health screenings, health promotion and disease prevention tools,health education and the most current research to under insured ,under served, high- risk populations who are predisposed to develeloping kidney (renal) disease and (esrd), diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure) that leads to kidney failure.
Renal transplantation promotion and educational materials, community outreach and health screenings are an integral part of our programs. The corporation endeavors to change the face of these illnesses through better remedies and therapies in their treatment modalities to serve affected communities in a progressive and comprehensive way.
Our goal is to alleviate some of the health care disparity and provide some access to health screenings and health care information to high- risk multicultural communities.
Description
Provides access to critical and preventive, health care information education,diagnostic screeningss and; the promotion of medical and genetic research along with organ and tissue donation information to families and friends.
Provides tools or access to information. Trains-educates clients in the proper usage of self -monitoring equipment,refers to health care professional for follow up.
