ORGANIZATION: AccentCare Fairview Hospice-MSP

Provide compassionate care and support to patients and families during the patient's end of life journey.
Hospice volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Companionship for patients (conversing, reading, playing games, engaging in life review)
  • Caregiver relief
  • Hand massage (training provided)
  • Legacy work (training provided)
  • Light housekeeping (vacuuming, dusting, meal prep)
  • Running errands

Patients live in private homes or facilities in and around the Twin Cities metro area. You will be strategically matched with patients based on geographic preferences and similar interests. Volunteering is very flexible. You accept assignments based on your availability. The time you spend volunteering each week is flexible and will be scheduled directly with patients and/or caregivers.

No medical experience is necessary. Health screening, background check, and training provided at no cost to you.

Description

When life expectancy is limited, AccentCare Fairview Hospice staff and volunteers help patients and caregivers focus on improving the quality of their remaining days. Hospice provides medical, emotional, social and spiritual care. We bring these services to the familiar setting of patients' own homes whenever possible. The same kind of care may also be given at a long-term care site, a group home, an assisted living site or a residential hospice.
