We are looking for 2 volunteers to assist with our monthly food distribution held on a Saturday morning. We distribute food at two locations in North Philadelphia.This is a volunteer opportunity that is not glamourous as you will mainly help to sign participants in, so you MUST have legible handwriting and occasionally pack and distribute food bags in the semi-outdoors. It can be hot in the summer and of course cold in the winter. We really need volunteers that are COMMITTED, compassionate and friendly.

To assist and empower low income and homeless women through one-on-one mentorship, group activities and to act as advocates for the women in the areas of employment, healthcare, education and housing.
Description
Take A Sistah to Lunch is a small nonprofit that was founded in October 2002. Our original mission was to take ten different women from the shelter system and transitional housing out to lunch once a month at an area restaurant. These ten women would join ten working women from diverse fields, who would become their mentors and act as advocates for them. This mission has now evolved. In addition to the lunches, we sponsor health fairs, free mammograms and workshops. We also run a food distribution in Philadelphia once a month.
