BOOK SHELVER
Position Overview: Do you love to organize, alphabetize and put things in order? We invite you to make a difference at the many locations that need assistance with shelving books.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and organize returned materials into appropriate shelving categories.
- Interfile organized book cart materials into appropriate collections. Separate and shelve any improperly filed materials into correct locations.
- Scan materials on shelf to maintain proper organization of shelved library materials for maximum accessibility.
Training & Support Provided:
- Orientation to the library and its collections.
- Review of Dewey Decimal System and fiction shelving system.
- Review of correct safety techniques.
Benefits of Volunteering:
KCL aspires to build a supportive network of families from our communities. Volunteers will provide a service to the library by insuring correct and timely placement of materials within the library while learning time management & personable life-long skills.
Time Commitment: Two (2) hours weekly
Length of Commitment: Flexible
