Volunteer Buddy/ Mentor & Community Connection Team Member
Organization |
Description
We are looking for you to be a Volunteer Buddy and/or Mentor!
As a Volunteer Buddy you would spend time with a SOURCE member volunteering alongside them (i.e. going to America's Second Harvest sorting and stocking shelves or Brown Bag for the Elderly packing food to volunteer together at least once a month).
As a mentor we would connect you with one of our members for you to spend time with them in ways that are active. We will tell you what their interests and passions in life are and you would be there to explore those passions with them (i.e. talking walks, visiting the humane society, crocheting, knitting, arts and crafts, singing, painting and/or volunteering).
The third opportunity is to be apart of a Community Connection Team that I am in the midst of creating. I am implementing a Community Connection initiative to profile our SOURCE members in positive ways through mixed media. Instead of presenting our members to community organizations and possible volunteers as patients with physically disabilities and/or senior citizens I want to create a visual profile of them as active participants of our society. Some SOURCE members may decide to create collages of their interests and passions; some may opt to create a video or slide show that illustrates who they are beyond their disability. The profiles will focus on their strengths and passions in life as opposed to their disabilities. Once these profiles have been created they will be given to their Case Manager and presented to community organizations and potential volunteers. Instead of us telling people about a person we will be able to visually show them an illustration of their life and in turn matched them accordingly. If you would like to be involved in the visual documentation planning and process it would begin once I had at least 2 additional volunteers to be the foundation of the team.
You would volunteer according to your availability. There is no specific start date as we are always looking for volunteers. The possiblities are endless.
PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
