Build House seeks to provide an alternative to traditional residential placement for Bay Area families and individuals with developmental disabilities. We are a small, non-profit residence in West Berkeley housing 6 individuals with severe to moderate developmental disabilities. We provide quality care while emphasizing family involvement in our resident's active lives as they develop their daily living skills and utilize the many opportunities for community interaction in Berkeley.

High School students! Gain volunteer hours for college applications!

We need assistance with taking our residents on park and community outings and coordinating indoor activities like art projects and music nights. No special skills required, just loving life and willing to share it spending one on one time with our residents. We also could use handy work around the house, fund raising, and so much more!

We are also currently seeking one to two professionals in the fields of law, accounting, social services, community outreach, business or finance who have an interest in providing inclusive housing for developmentally disabled individuals to join our Board of Directors. If you are interested, please email us and we can arrange a time to meet.

Note: nursing students can obtain volunteer hours for degree under the supervision of a registered nurse. Please contact us for details.
