Kindred at Home Hospice Volunteers are an important part of the hospice philosophy and offer support to our patients and their families. Care is provided in private homes, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, or wherever the patient resides. Volunteer opportunities include:
Companion Volunteers: Make friendly visits to hospice patients and/or provide support to family caregivers
Bereavement Volunteers: Assist Bereavement Coordinator with phone calls and/or administrative activities that support the families of our patients who are experiencing grief
Tuck-in Volunteers: Make telephone calls to check on patients/families
Specialty volunteers: Include pet therapy, massage therapy, and other specialty services (must be certified or registered in the specialty)
You decide where, when and how much time you volunteer.
Flexible, comprehensive training is provided.
Criminal background, drug and TB screenings provided at no cost to volunteers

Description
Volunteers play an important role on the Kindred at Home Hospice team. They provide encouragement and companionship to our patients and families. Caring people who believe in the hospice philosophy are given a specialized training program to better enable them to provide emotional support to patients and families.
Other services performed by volunteers include:
- Provide companionship for the patient or family, such as reading a book, playing a game, or just being a good listener
- Running errands for patients
- Performing clerical duties in the office
- Educating the community about the value of Hospice Volunteers
