Volunteers come from around the world to live in Innisfree for one year or more in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Volunteers live in family-style homes with adults with intellectual disabilities (coworkers) , caring for their daily needs and running the household. Volunteers also work alongside coworkers in our weavery, woodshop, kitchen, gardens, farm and bakery. Volunteers receive room, board, medical insurance and $265 as a monthly stipend. Volunteers receive 2 consecutive days off, 15 paid vacation days per year and have shared use of cars and facilities.

Innisfree Village is a lifesharing community with adults with intellectual disabilities, dedicated to providing a home and work environment in an atmosphere of beauty, warmth and respectfulness.
Description
Innisfree Village was founded in 1971 to meet the ever changing needs of adults with mental disabilities. Full-time volunteers live in family-style houses, caring for the daily needs of coworkers. All community members participate in the therapeutic workstations of weaving, woodworking, cooking, baking and gardening. We live on a 550 acre farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mtns.
