Imagine hearing about WWII from a man who was a soldier, or listening to a woman who lived through the Great Depression describe her experiences. What would it feel like to have a family caregiver call you an "angel" because you spent time with their loved one so they could have time to themselves?

The In-Home Senior Respite Volunteer Program at Metropolitan Family Services DuPage matches volunteers with families in DuPage County who are caring for a senior loved one. Volunteers visit with an elder while the family caregiver takes a much needed break. Visist times and days are flexible. Visits are social only; no hands on or medical care is required.

If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity that will allow you to develop a lasting relationship with a family and if you enjoy spending time with elders, this may be the perfect match! Volunteer positions are available all over DuPage County!

If you are able to meet the following requirements. please contact us to register for a training session; all trainings are held in Wheaton, IL;

-Able to commit for at least 6 months

-criminal Background check, no felony convictions

-Able to attend an interview and two four hour trainings, and one yearly training thereafter

-at leas18 years of age
