Program pairs caring Listeners one-on-one with children in Broward County. Volunteers called Listeners are non judgmental, caring adult friends to young children who may have low self-esteem, difficulty with peers, or need help adapting to life change. Through play and conversation, Listeners provide positive attention and encouragement. This helps improve the children's confidence, communication and problem-solving skills. Volunteers engage each child in play and conversation once a week at the same time for 30 minutes. Program requires 1-day training (10:00am to 3:00pm) at MHASEFL office in Lauderhill. Volunteers must pass a Level 2 FBI/FDLE background clearance thru MHASEFL.org, instructions for all requirements will be provided at training. This opportunity is for responsible volunteers willing to make a WEEKLY COMMITMENT! In this program, children must have consistency. Volunteers send in signed monthly logs to verify hours.

Anyone who cares about and relates well to children can be trained to be a Listen to Children Volunteer. Listener volunteers are male, female, young, old and represent a wide diversity that is reflected in our community.

The next in person training will be announced later in 2024.
