Volunteer Ombudsmen serve as advocates for older adults living in long term care facilities throughout the Coulee/7 Rivers Region on the western side of our state. Our region includes the counties of Trempealeau, Jackson, Juneau, Adams, Monroe, La Crosse and Vernon. The Volunteer Ombudsmen work in partnership with the regional Ombudsman to provide advocacy services. Volunteers are trained and assigned to serve in a specific long term care facility in their area. Volunteers are supervised and receive on-going training to ensure excellence in service to nursing home residents.
If interested in being considered for training, you must commit to a minimum of 6 months of weekly service. A background in long term care is not required for service. Main requirement for selection for training/service is the desire to make a positive difference in the lives of our elderly citizens.
