The volunteer would seek out and read to young children in the patient waiting areas. The goal is to promote literacy in families by setting a positive example of a motivated adult reading to a child. All actions and readings would have to be consistent with Community Healthcare Center's "Reach Out and Read" (ROR) program.
- Request and attain permission from parents/guardians--in any patient waiting area--to read to their children.
- Read books slowly and enthusiastically to children. The books are located on the reading cart or in children's areas of patient waiting rooms.
- Label new and used books.
- Tidy-up children's reading areas as needed, including organization of books on shelves.
- Review new donated books for age appropriateness and used books for both age appropriateness and suitability.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.

Mission Statement
Our Mission is to provide access to quality, affordable primary care and preventative services by reaching out to everyone, including the underserved.
Description
Community Healthcare Center has multiple medical providers who provide medical care in the fields of pediatrics, OB/GYN, behavioral health and family practice medicine. The Center promotes oral health care through the services of full-time family dentists and their dental hygienists. Other Center services include radiology, a Class D Pharmacy, a laboratory, mobile dental services and an outreach educational arm providing health educational screenings and education.
Community Healthcare Center accepts all private medical and dental insurance. Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP and TRICARE are also gladly accepted.
We also feature a sliding fee scale for the low income, underinsured and uninsured. The scale takes into account family size and household income. At Community Healthcare Center, we understand not everyone can afford medical and dental insurance. Rising healthcare costs, coupled with escalating premiums, are squeezing hardworking people who simply can't make their dollars stretch far enough to cover themselves or their families
